BBC Webwise: guide to understanding and using the Internet [Nat].
EVOC Care Exchange: produced by Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC), this is a database of training opportunities, training providers and organisations willing to share learned expertise in the South East Scotland area [S].
Care Learning Centre, West Lothian College: The Centre provides those working in the care profession with a multi-purpose base room. To support and enhance work undertaken in the learning centre a wide range of learning resources can be accessed through the college library, including PCs with Internet access, books and journals. The Centre can be used for individual study, personal development or can also be booked for meetings and group activities [S].

HandsOnScotland is an online resource for anybody working with children and young people. The website provides practical information and techniques on how to respond helpfully to children and young people's troubling behaviour, build up their self-esteem and promote their positive mental wellbeing. The website was commissioned by the Scottish government through HeadsUpScotland and was developed by Playfield Institute (NHS Fife) in partnership with Barnardo's and the University of Dundee [Nat].
HI-Net: virtual health improvement network, designed to promote communication and information sharing amongst professionals interested in improving the health & well-being of people in Grampian. The site features the latest health improvement news, events and information, access to key documents, and allows you to share your knowledge with the rest of the health improvement community [N].
Intute: Social Sciences: evaluated web resources supporting academics and practitioners in the social sciences field [Nat].
Learning Exchange: interactive library of digital learning resources for social services workforce. Many of the resources are freely available through Open Search, however, some resources require an Athens password to access them. Any member of the Scottish social services workforce can gain access to the password protected resources by registering with the NHS eLibrary. NHS Scotland E-Library: integrated access to the knowledge base of healthcare from a wide range of sources, sectors and organisations [Nat].
Open Learn Initiative: produced by the the Open University, this provides free online learning material taken from Open University courses [Nat.]
Re-Solv (Society for the Prevention of Solvent and Volatile Substance Abuse): provides online training for schools, social workers, foster carers and related parties [Nat].
researchWeb: publications database of UK research in social care, including Scottish Government publications [Nat].

SWAP: the e-learning section of the subject centre for social policy and social work, part of the Higher Education Academy. Provides online tutorials in social work, publications and many useful links [Nat].
Touch typing tutorial: free program that lets you exercise and learn touch typing [Nat].
Virtual Learning Centre: knowledge base for legislation affecting social work students, practitioners and managers, providing updates on social work legislation and policy [Nat].
