The Learning Network North holds quarterly Network meetings. The meetings are networking events with specific themes, at which presentations are often delivered by invited guests.
Presentations delivered at the Network meetings are posted here.
Network meeting: Friday 9th November 2007
Venue: UHI Executive Offices, Inverness
The theme for this meeting was Online Communication and eLearning. The meeting featured a demonstration of the Learning Network North Portal (lnnportal) by the eLearning Communications Manager, Grainne Hamilton. The aim of the meeting was to show what online facilities are available in the lnnportal and to discuss how those attending might make use of the facilities in their own work and learning practices. Points raised included how the portal can be used to:
- hold discussions with colleagues and network with others in the sector by using the portal's communication facilities
- host or participate in online courses, access to which can be fitted around work duties
- engage in team work, store documents, share calendars etc
- find information and links to resources relevant to the Social Services sector and the aims of the Learning Networks.
The presentation was followed by discussion on the management of online communities and delivery of eLearning. The meeting also provided opportunity for those attending to feed in to the future work of the Learning Network North.
