Our project work - Practice Learning Qualifications (Social Services) (PLQ (SS))

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) have been commissioned by Learning Networks South East, Tayforth and West to develop the new Practice Learning Qualifications (Social Services) (PLQ (SS)). The development work is being led by the West Network. For information on the West's programme please click on link. The Learning Network North have commissioned The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen to develop the Practice Learning Qualification (Social Services).

The PLQs are qualifications that can be gained by anyone helping to contribute to other peoples learning within a social work or social care setting. By helping people learn new skills and understand why they do what they do, it is hoped that they will learn to do a better job and that services for service users and carers will be improved.

  • Inventory of materials for PLQ(SS). An inventory of currently available materials has been compiled by Consultant Jean Gordon as part of the development of the PLQ(SS). The inventory has enabled gaps to be identified which will form the basis for commissioning new materials. In due course the inventory will be updated as new materials are developed and placed on the Learning Exchange, together with the opportunity for comment and review from those using the materials.

Click here to access the inventory (MS Excel file). To search the inventory for particular categories of materials you need to use the filters – the small arrows at the top of each column. If you left click on the arrows you will get a drop down list of the entries in the column below. If you click on one of these entries the column will only show the type of entry you are looking for.
