Registration
The Learning Networks support the registration and post registration requirements for the social services workforce, as regulated by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). This section provides information and key links relating to Registration.
Registration is concerned with raising standards in the social services and ensuring service users receive high quality services from confident and competent staff. There are around 200,000 (SSSC data, March 2010) social services workers in Scotland. Registration for social services workers was introduced through the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001. The Register of Social Service Workers in Scotland opened on 1 April 2003 and is maintained by the Scottish Social Services Council. The law requires that the Scottish Social Services Council is assured of the good character, conduct and competence of all applicants to the register. The Learning Networks support staff engagement with registration and post registration requirements.
