Registration Key Information

The Learning Networks work with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), employers, and education and training providers to support Registration. Useful links to key information on the SSSC website, videos and access to the SSSC online registration system can be found in the Resources / Registration section.

Deadlines for registration with the SSSC

For categories of the register that are currently open, the legislation specifies “Required Registration” dates for each category of the register. After this time employers will be committing an offence if, without reasonable excuse, they employ a worker in a post subject to registration who is not registered with the SSSC or another relevant regulatory body, for example the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Required registration dates for workers in parts of the register which are not yet open will be set by the Scottish Government in due course. For information on deadlines for Registration, check the Resources / Registration section.

Applications for registration

The SSSC will contact employers to advise when applications for registration must be submitted in order to guarantee registration by the required date. There is a short video to help applicants complete their application forms in the Resources / Registration section.
