Catering for a range of users and devices

We know our website will be accessed by users with a variety of needs and through a variety of devices. This means we have structured our website in such a way that it should make sense to different users, technologies and devices. We apply the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which are maintained by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), part of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

The W3C provide an overview of how people with disabilities might use a range of assistive technologies and adaptive strategies in an Introduction to “How People with Disabilities Use the Web”.

The BBC's accessibility help pages, My Web My Way, pull together information and guidance on a range of assistive technologies and adaptive strategies which you might find useful.
